I am trying to learn the names of the parents of William Clifford Badger, b. 31 Jan. 1845, in Vermont, probably in or around Danville/St. Johnsbury. William Badger married Mary Elizabeth Langmaid ("Libbie") in 1871. At the time of the 1880 census they were living in Danville, Caledonia, VT and had 3 children. Three more children--including my husband's grandmother Mary Blanche Badger, b. 1880--were born in Danville. Between 1882 and 1885 the family relocated to Jasper Co., Iowa. Three more children were born to the family in Iowa. William and Libbie Badger named their first son for her father (son's middle name). Their second son was named William Amasa. I know there were Amasa Badgers living in VT, and I'm wondering if this child was named after the father, grandfather or an uncle of William Badger. This is the only possible clue I have about William Badger's ancestry. William Badger died in 1934 and is buried in Newton, Jasper Co., Iowa. Any leads as to his parentage would be much appreciated.
