The Badgers of Poughkeepsie, NY: Ebenezer Badger, Elizabeth Badger, Sarah Badger

I need information on Ebenezer Badger of Poughkeepsie, New York (listed in the 1790 Census as head of a family without slaves but with six women, seven men above the age of 16 and two under sixteen). He served as a dean of Poughkeepsie's Episcopal Trinity Church and was on the town council when Poughkeepsie was re-chartered as a city.

The Badgers were a prominent family in Poughkeepsie during the Revolutionary War.

Supposedly an Elizabeth Badger of this family was a "warden" or "matron" of Vassar College in its early days. Vassar's own records do not confirm this, although, the college's early records are spotty in some respects after much was lost when they were stored in the dirt-floor basements of Main Building and later Jewett House. Also, the college only kept records of high-level employees.

Additionally, two Badger ladies went to Vassar College in the early twentieth century but only one graduated.

Finally, Sarah E. Badger (b 25 Apr 1781 Po'keepsie, NY - d. 18 Jun 1847 Ithaca, NY) was said to be directly related to Ebenezer Badger. She married a Rev. War hero's son William Ecker (1780-1827) on 10 Nov 1801 and had
1. William Badger Ecker,
2. Theodore Ecker
3. Phoebe Ecker
4. Susan Ecker
5. Belinda Ecker
6. Harriett Ecker
7. Charles Ecker
8. Sarah C. Ecker
All were baptized at Trinity Church. A photo of the William Ecker Family Bible was posted online for a time.

Her descendants carried 'Badger' as a middle name for an additional two generations, indicating they were well aware that it was an important family.

So there it is. I don't know if the midwestern Badgers originated in New York but does anyone know any information that connects these three individuals together or to the other Badgers posted here.
