Thanks, Janet. It is interesting; I've put it in my files as sometimes information that is not immediately useful turns out to be an important clue farther down the road.
Here is what I have on Hugh Badger in case you need it:
An (undocumented)on-line family group sheet shows his birth and death dates as 23 Mar 1822, PA; and 28 May 1878, Eleroy, Stephenson. He m. Fanny (Frances A.) Churchill on 26 June 1846 [IL marriage records]; he was a carpenter in Eleroy in 1855 [Northern Gazetter & Directory 1855-1856, Illinois Ancestors]; he purchased bounty land in MO from his brother-in-law, Wyman W. Winters in 1860 [BLM-GLO records]. He is also shown on a plat map as owning land in Stephenson Co. After his death, his wife went to Klikitat Co. in WA to live with her brother, Robert Churchill, and she died there. He appears in the federal and state censuses for Stephenson Co. There don't seem to have been any children although I haven't really looked.
