Msgr. Beggans' parents were Phillip Augustus and Bridget Moran. Phillip was born 10/5/1884, baptized on 10/12/1884. He was a patrolman in Jersey City, assigned to the 7th St. station. He began on the force 2/1/1917 and retired on a June 1st, date unknown. He appeared to be born in the United States. Bridget (Bertha) was born in 1883. Phillip's parents were James Beggans and Anne Tierney, both born in Ireland. James was born in 1835 and died 12/19/1895. He was from the Newtown Butler area. Anne died at the age of 67 and is buried in Holy Name Cemetary in Jersey City. They lived at 57 Jefferson Ave. Anne' father was a James Tierney from Drumraine, Newtown Butler. I need to go to Ireland to find out further information on James Beggans, as this is as far as my information goes.
