Timothy--I appreciate the info. I believe that my gggfather, Phillip Beggans, may have been the brother of your James Beggans. They were born around the same time (1830-1835)in NewtownButler. I know that Phillip had several siblings, but I have not been able to lay my hands on any names yet. My grandmother's cousin is the oldest living descendant(age 85) from the Beggans line and she may have some more information for me. She is the one who visited Msgr. Beggans when she was younger and says they/we are all related. I will keep you informed. Thank you for all your help!
