Hello: I am curious about the middle name of my gg grandmother and came across the Begg Family forum.
My gg grandmother was Agnes Begg Hamilton born on January 22, 1814 in Lesmahagow, Blackwood Farm. She married Thomas Burns on January 12, 1833 and this was recorded in both Avondale and Lesmahagow parishes. They emigrated to Canada and died in Ontario, Canada.
I have John Hamilton born 1790 and Margaret Burnie as Agnes' parents. Perhaps "Begg" was John's mother's maiden name or Margaret's mother's maiden name.
If anyone can shed some light on this or direct me to another source, I will be very grateful!! Thank you very much and Happy New Year 2010!!
