I enjoyed your posting. My husband's ancestors were Samuel and Martha Dorris. I will add your information to what I had. Hope this helps you somewhat. The information that I had is this: Samuel Dorris (son of William) b. abt 1740, d. 1824; m. Martha Hughes b. 1745. I had the names of only three of their children: Rachel Dorris b. abt 1785 m. Jonathan Murray b. abt 1784 (it is my GUESS that Johathan's family migrated to US abt same time as the Dorris family). Children of Rachel and Johathan were: Alsey abt 1818-1867; Simpson b. abt 1806; Daniel b abt 1817; Thomas b.?; Samuel b. abt 1821; Nancy b.?; Elizabeth 1813-1886 and Rachel b.? William Gibbs Dorris b.? m. Catherine Frost (3 William Dorris households are found on the 1820 Sumner Co., Tn, Gallatin PO, Census. Also in 1820 Census are Robert Dorris, Josiah Dorris, John Dorris, Sam'l Dorris, another Robert Dorris and John Dorris. I have seen (somewhere) there was a William Dorris III who was the father of Dr. Robert Dorris. Dr. Robert Dorris is buried in Todd Co., Ky along with his wife, Jane Rippy Samuel Dorris (dates unknown) m. Abigail Frost; children were: Josiah Frost Dorris (1808-1883) m. Martha Bridgewater; Isaiah Snow Dorris (b.? d. 1895) m1. Harriet Bridgewater; m2. Susannah Bridgewater; m3. Elizabeth Murray Wicks. Harriet and Susannah were cousins to Martha. Elizabeth was a cousin to Isaiah. My husband's line is through Jonathan Murray. I have not found Jonathan's parents. If you can add to my Murray information...will appreciate it. If you are interested in Murray information from Jonathan forward, let me know. Notify Administrator about this message?
