Louis Gagne and Marie Michel are cousins. I have been away from my computer for 6 months and am a beginner at this so my information is not entirely accurate. I am excited about finding relatives no matter how distant. My mother was a Gagnier born in Portage, Maine. Her father was Francois Xavier Gagnier born in St. John, Maine. I had a real hard time trying to do my genealogy so had to hire a nice lady from California to help me. She discovered why very quickly.....my Grandfather's real name was Gagne. Somehow it was changed when he left St. John. She continued to help me and I discovered all my ancestors on both my mother and father's side are from the St. John Valley Area. I'm very happy about it. I traced it back to Port Royal, Nova Scotia and before that...France. Anyway, to help you more....my Grandfather's father was David Wilfred (Alfred) Gagne and is burried in a churchyard in St. John, Maine along with two sons. Alfred's wife was Flavie Landry. Alfred's father was George Gagne dit Belavance married to Celina Soucy. George Gagne's father was Guilliaume Gagne who was married to Perpetue (Marie) Caron. Guilliaume's father was Alexis Gagne dit Belavance married to Marie Madeleine Pelletier. I didn't know how long this was until I started typing it for you. Alexis' father was also Alexis Gagne dit Belavance who was married to Mary Catherine Constance Boucher. Alexis' father was Pierre Gagne dit Bellavance and he married Genevieve Fournier. Then, Louis Gagne dit Bellavance with Louise Picard dite Destroismaisons. Louis' father was Pierre Gagne dit Gasnier with Marguerite Rosee dit Rouzee. Next is Louis Gagne (Gasnier) with Marie Launay thus the connection. That brings me back to 1597 and France. Hope that was not too confusing for you. My Grandfather never went by his birth name. He died as Frank Gagnier. He married my Grandmother who was born in St. Hillaire, New Brunswick which is right near Edmundston so she always told everyone she was from Edmundston as it was better known. Her name was Marie Emily Picard. I'm in the process now of tracing that line. That is all on my mother's side. My father was a Pelletier and I'm afraid I won't get anywhere with that line because there are too many of them. :) Cheers, your cousin....M.
