I am also looking for information, regarding Richard Hargrove or Hargraves,I suspect he married into my family or my family married into his,I suspect that this Richard was born about 1718 give or take a few years,I am basing this totally on the fact that he apparently sired a child born in 1750.The record I found states Elizabeth Searcy charged Richard Hargrove (Hargrave)with havin begotten on her body a bastard child ,it appears that this child called William Hargrove Searcy was bound to Elizabeths brother Reuben to learn to read, write and the skill of being a shoemaker.I believe that this is the Reuben Searcy who lived in Granville Co NC (on the Mecklenburg co line) In 1784 Elizabeth Searcy left a will she names her oldest son as William Hargrave Searcy, she mentions another son Joseph Moore,a son Ozwald Towns, and a daughter Martha Tudor. The reason I feel that there may have been a marriage between the Cabiness,Caviness family and Richard Hargrove is that he is found often signing deeds for this family.Henry Caviness is believed to be the son of Henri Cabanis ,he is believed to be the father of Henry (1738 Matthew (1740)William 1746,Thomas 1734,Amos 1750,Richard,1754,Fredrick 1756.In 1764 Richard Hargrove or Hargraves witnessed a deed where this Henry bought 230 acres of land, also signig were,Thomas Caviness. In 1785 Henry Caviness Jr (1738) sold this 230 acres of land of Henry Caviness deceased. This Henry Jr had been living in Halifax Co NC along with him is found Richard Hargrove,Both Richard Hargrove and Henry Caviness Jr signed the Halifax petition.between 1765 and 1769,interesting is that richard Hargrove shows up to witness the land transaction between Henry Caviness Sr and John Busbee (Buzby)this was in 1765 also.I might not think much more of this except Willie Searcy apparent son of Richard Hargrove , grows up and he starts selling land to for Matthew (1740 in both Mecklenburg Co Va

Then again a Willie Searcy is witnessing deeds on two occasions when Matthew ,Fredrick and Richard migrate to Chatham co and Randolph Co NC and are beginning to buy property in Chatham Co NC in 1799.I Think that this Willie Seary could be the son of William Hargrove Searcy. Not sure it is difficult to tell if it is the older William Searcy or the younger .I just know that both Richard Hargrove, and William hargrove Searcy ,are connected to the Caviness family. Can anyone shed any light on this family?
