Greetings to all the members of the Jacoby Family!
My name is Randal J. Loy, and I am researching the histories of the stained glass windows in the Nave of the church I attend, Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral (Episcopal), Kansas City, Missouri. This is a volunteer project for which I receive no remuneration and for which there is no budget. The end result of this research will be a book which will be privately printed solely for the use of the congregation of the Cathedral, and which will not be published commercially.
One of our windows was fabricated by the large, German-influenced studio of The Jacoby Art Glass Company of St. Louis. It was founded by Hermann H. Jacoby (1850-1919), who was the son of the great German Methodist missionary, Ludwig Sigismund Jacoby (1813-1874), who founded the first Methodist church west of the Mississippi River.
I am seeking information about Ludwig's wife, Amelia Nuelsen, who was Hermann's mother. The 1880 Federal Census shows her living with Hermann and gives her birth year as 1815. I cannot locate the Jacoby family in the Federal Census in 1900.
Can anyone assist me with information about Amelia Nuelsen Jacoby? I am especially looking for her exact life dates. I have already consulted the Valhalla Cemetery where Hermann Jacoby, and his wife, Jennie C. Jacoby (1854-1927) are buried, but Hermann's parents are not buried there. Ludwig died in St. Louis, Missouri, according to all the sources I have been able to locate.
