Married to Ambroise Caron Sept 29th, 1851 in Kamouraska, my GGG Mother Clarisse seems to be illegitime child. According to census records 1861 to 1901, Ambroise, her husband, is 4 years older than Clarisse. Ambroise Caron was born in December 1831 accoding to Drouin vital records. Estimated birth year for Clarisse is ABT 1834 in most source I have looked for. May 1833 is recorded in 1901 Census but not coherent with the 4 years difference compared to Ambroise (december 1831). I have checked birth dates of all members of the family on 1901 Census. Many have shown a difference of one year earlier than right dates. I have searched Drouin Vital records for a Clarisse, Clara, Claire, Marie Clarisse, Marie Claire. Nothing found in 1833 or 1834 for St-Louis Kamouraska. Then I looked in May 1835 (same register) and I have found a "Marie Clerc illegitime" baptised on May 24th, 1835 !!!! ( Clerc pronounced Claire in French . Henry Boisbrillant and Angélique Dube were "godparents" (parrain et marraine). I looked for relationship between Labrie family and Boisbrillant (Brillant-Briand-Morel Boisbrillant de la Durantaye) family. I have found Alexandre Mignot Labrie and Eleonore Boisbrillant as godparents for Eleonore Labrie daughter of Sophie Boisbrillant and Joseph Labrie. Eleonore and Sophie are both daughters of Henry Boisbrillant. Angelique Dube is related to an other member of the Labrie family but is also the godmother of Eleonore Boisbrillant. All that stuff found suggest these questions: Is Eleonore Boisbrillant the unknown mother of Clarisse Labrie ? Is Alexandre Mignot Labrie the unknown father of Clarisse Labrie ? We know they were godparents of Eleonore Labrie. Angelique Dube is the godmother of Eleonore Boisbrillant and also godmother of Illegitime Marie Clerc. We know that Alexandre Mignot Labrie was present as "tutor" when Clarisse Labrie married Ambroise Caron. Clementine Caron, the first child of Ambroise and Clarisse Labrie lived with Alexandre Labrie and Flavie Phocas Raymond according to Censuses of 1861 and 1871. Is that enough to conclude that Alexandre Mignot Labrie and Eleonore Boisbrillant had illegitime child together without marriage relationship ? Eleonore Boisbrillant married William (Guillaume) D'Astous three years later in 1838 and lived outside parrish of St.Louis Kamouraska. Alexandre Mignot Labrie married Flavie Phocas Raymond in 1838 and lived in St.Louis Kamouraska. No child known. I may be wrong but I think it's the closest hypothesis about Clarisse's origins.
