Don't know if you are still looking for info or you have found what you wanted since the posting was a year ago. The reason you couldn't find at least Jean Baptiste Smith on the census was that he was deceased by them. Died ca.1859 don't have the exact date. Mary was on the 1860 census. Listed as Marry Smith age 56, she had 3 of her children living with her. Mary, Susan, and Victoire'. On the 1870 census she was in the household of daughter Harriet. The 1880 census she was with daughter Victoire and husband Bernhard Stark.
O have some other info too, suchas the parents of John and Marie Smith. If you let me know what info you need I would be glad to share.
