Dan -

I have checked my database and I don't have a record of your LaCasse/Casse family but I think I can clear up the name confusion. In French, the word "Le" or "La" means "the". So, when they came to the US, many of the Casse family identified themselves as "the Casses" or "LaCasse" in French. I see similar problems with my LaCasse family, including the fact that half of them changed the spelling to LaCosse around the turn of the century!
