1. Thanks for the Jackman information. Can you direct me to a documentary source for this?
2. I've been through my files and can find no clear connection between Eliz. McNutt and Eliz. Wakefield. Charles Wakefield Mardis' mother's maiden name is given as McNutt on his death certificate. Stewart's "Indiana County..." (1903) lists Joseph D.'s wife's maiden name as McNutt. I don't have his writeup on the Wakefields so I can't check to see if there is anything useful there. Eliz. Mardis was about 23 when she married Joseph, so I suppose it is possible she was a widow at the time. But that is supposition. I'd be interested in your source for the connection.
3. To the best of my knowledge, there was no John Thomas Mardis. George's father was probably Thomas Mardis. George may have had a brother named John. There is some fragmentary documentation to support this, but abolutely none that I'm aware of for a John Thomas Mardis. If you'll send me your postal address, I'll send you a writeup on George's father.
