My great aunt Lessie Mable Mardis joined the DAR relating herself to Robert Jackman Jr. So I used her DAR application as a source. I don't know what documentation she originally provided, I suppose I could request the supporting evidence she gave. All I had to do was relate myself to her father, Martin Luther Mardis, and Hattie Leona Jackman. So I have birth, marriage, and death certificates for everyone up to Paul Lester Mardis and Verna Louise Conner, which states their parents.

Here is some information on the Wakefield's from page 54 of History of Cambria County... I also have another write up, but I'm trying to find the computer version so I don't have to type it up.
Thomas Wakefield, eldest son of David and Mary Jane (Wade) Wakefield married Elizabeth Morton, niece of John Morton, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Wakefield enlisted from Chester county in the Continental army under General Washington, and among other services he spent the terrible winter that so tried men's souls at Valley Forge.
Children of Thomas and Elizabeth (Morton) Wakefield:
8. Elizabeth Wakefield, married John McNutt, and died in Indiana county, Pennsylvania.
(I deleted the rest of the children and other information for purposes of this post.)

It makes since that Elizabeth Wakefield and John McNutt's child would be Elizabeth McNutt. It shows Elizabeth Jane Mardis' maiden name as Elizabeth Jane McNutt. Although that's a good idea, I'll look for a write up from Stewart.

Here is my email, amymardis@gmail.com. If you send me an e-mail, I'll e-mail you my address. I'd rather not have it posted on here.
