Am curious how you obtained this historical data. My great-great grandfather, John Padden, indicated that his parents were Michael and Katharine McHugh Padden of Crossmolina, County Mayo. Logistically, Crossmolina is fairly near Killala. I don't think I'd be out on a limb to guess there is some relation. Unfortunately, the Paddens loved to recycle names so it seems everyone is John, Thomas or Bridget. My Paddens arrived in New York 21 May 1863. John was Naturalized on 28 October 1872.

I have always been curious about the professional background of the Paddens. It seems many could read & write. Have assumed they were educated.

My Paddens also worked in the Pennsylvania mines near Pittston. One child died mining, around 1883, which ultimately lead to them leaving for Minnesota.

Have been very frustrated trying to identify John Padden's siblings etc. Anything left to share?
