I believe that this is a mis-attribution. While Ellen Parr is thus quoted in the December 1980 issue of Readers Digest, she was probably quoting earlier work by Dorothy Parker. See, for example, <http://www.library.csi.cuny.edu/dept/history/lavender/386/dparker.html>.
