Hi Ann,
Sorry again for the long delay in replying and thanks for the information on Pollet's children. I'm afraid all the information I have on him I have already sent you. I did eventually find the copy of the letter he was mentioned in.
It was a letter written by my 3x great grandfather Frederic Cardew (Pollet's brother) from Ghazeepore in India where he was in the East India Company Civil Service. He wrote it on the 29th May 1852 (he died the following year) in reply to a letter (I don't have) from his 11-year-old daughter Lucy in England (she was Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery's grandmother).
The piece referring to Pollet is short and as follows....
"Poor Uncle Pollet, he is by this time far on his way to Australia. I hope he will be happy with his wife."
A little cryptic and I'm afraid I have no idea why he would be referred to as "poor". Something must have happened which may have been the reason for his emigration. All I know is that he had married the previous year.
I would be very interested in the dates and spouses of Pollet's children.
