New information has become available and I've updated this posting. There is a discrepancy for the births of Julianne and Charlotte. I'm still working on that. I'm looking for information on this family. Andrew McFarland was born around 1829 in Norther Ireland and died 12 July 1893 in Ireland (probably Ballygawley, County Tyrone). He married Anastasia Sadler (could be Sadleir) who was born 23 September 1837 and christened 10 October 1837 in Ahascragh, Galway, Ireland. She died 18 Jun 1891 in Ireland (probably Ballygawley, County Tyrone). Their 10 children, all born in Ireland, were: 1. ANDREW JOHN, b. 7 Aug. 1863 and d. 19 May 1864 in Ireland. 2. MATILDA JEAN, b. 31 Oct 1864. She emigrated to America in 1894 and married THOMAS FARLEY in St. Patrick's Church in New York City, NY on 25 Sep 1894. They moved to Fountain City, Wisconsin. They had three children: Thomas G., Frederick H., and Lillian M. THOMAS FARLEY was b. Apr 1866 in the Irish free state where he worked as a horse trainer. He emigrated to America in 1893. He worked as a "section foreman" for the railroad near his home in Fountain City, Wisconsin. The 1900 census listes Matilda, her three children, and her three brothers (Thomas, Frederick, and Robert) living together in Fountain city, Wisconsin. They were living in Buffalo County, Wisconsin during the 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses. 3. JULIANNE, b. June 1867 (this is a date another family member has but I don't think it's correct - 28 Feb 1874) and d. Nov 1956 in NJ. She emigrated to America in 1895 and married JOHN KNOWLES. They lived in Jersey City, New Jersey. JOHN KNOWLES was b. abt. 1865, emigrated to America in 1889 and d. bet 1943-1944 in NJ. During the 1910 and 1920 censuses, they ran a rooming house. They had seven children: Mary b. abt. 1899; Helen b. abt. 1900; John (Jack) b. abt. 1904; Kathleen b. abt. 1910; Marguerite Veronica and William J. b. abt. 1912; and Robert J. b. 1917. 3. CHARLOTTE, b. 10 May 1867. She emigrated to America Apr 1903 (36 years old). She was married to Robert Graham (not sure if they were married in Ireland or America). It's been said she returned to Ireland and we don't know what happened to Robert or if they had any children. Charlotte d. 30 Apr 1948 in Ireland. 4. CAROLINE, b. 28 Oct 1868 and d. Jul 1953 in Long Island, NY. She married JOHN REID bet 1907-1908. JOHN d. 1953 in New York City, NY. They had one son, John Henry Reid (aka Jack). Jack died before 2006 but his children are still living. It's possible Caroline emigrate to America originally prior to 1893 and returned to Ireland and then came back in 1907. 5. ANDREW JOHN, b. 4 Dec 1869 and d. 1 Apr 1875 in Ireland. 6. FREDERICK WILLIAM, b. 30 Mar 1872. He emigrated to America in 1891. He never married. He d. 23 Mar 1918 and is buried in Great Falls, Cascade, Montana. 6. THOMAS ALEXANDER, b. 29 Dec 1874 in Ballygawley, Tyrone, Ireland. He emmigrated to America in 1894 and married SARA FRANCES BURDICK on 30 Nov 1905 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He d. 23 Jun 1956 in Great Falls, Cascade, Montana. SARA d. 17 Feb 1957 in Oakland, Alameda, CA (while visiting her son, Eugene). THOMAS was naturalized 29 Nov. 1919. He and Sara had four children: Thomas F. b. 1906; Eugene R. b. 1908; Eileen M. b. 1911; and Alberta L. b. 1918. 8. SOPHIA, b. 20 May 1875 and d. 9 Sept 1875 in Ireland. 10. ROBERT JAMES, b. 24 Dec 1879 (possibly 1878). He emigrated to America in 1897. He worked in a lumber camp but was lost to his family. Birth information for Anastasia Sadler was found on familysearch.org. It listed her father as Johne Sadler, a school master, and her mother as Jane. I also found another child born to this couple: John Sadler, b. 1835 and d. 1837 in Ahascragh, Galway, Ireland. Legend has it that Andrew's father died at age 98 and his mother died at 89, possibly in Northern Ireland. Also, that Anastasia's father died at age 68 and her mother died at age 99, possibly in Northern Ireland. Notify Administrator about this message?
