Gladys L. Taft MILFORD - Gladys Lillian Taft, 94, of Milford, died Friday, April 20, 2007, at Milford Regional Medical Center. Born in Upton, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Gladys (Bruce) Taft and lived most of her life in Milford. She was a graduate of Upton High School. In her early years, she was a governess for the Thayer family of Hopedale. She was employed by the former Draper/Rockwell Corp. in Hopedale for many years until her retirement in the 1970s. She then went to work for the Music Nook on Main Street in Milford, where she was employed by the Pagnini family for more than 30 years. She worked full time until April 12, 2007, when she was stricken ill. She was believed to be the oldest employed resident of Milford. Ms. Taft loved music and the performing arts, attending concerts, plays and productions in Milford, New York City and Branson, Mo. She was a member of the Upton Grange for more than 60 years. She leaves a multitude of four generations of nieces and nephews around the country who will miss her love and affection, especially Beverly Desjardins of Mendon, Linda Trudel of Milford, Shelia Mackie of Norton and Charlotte Rabbitt of Norfolk. She was the sister of the late Ruth Raymond, Elizabeth Brown, Robert Taft, Barbara Benoit, Eleanor Casey, Carolyn (Higgins) Bernardi and Richard Taft. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 24, at 10 a.m., in the Buma Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton, at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours are Monday, April 23, from 4 to 7 p.m., in the Buma Sargeant Funeral Home, and Tuesday, April 24, from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to the funeral service. Donations may be made to the Gladys Taft Music Benefit Fund, c/o Milford National Bank, 256 Main St., Milford, MA 01757. Gladys is descended from Matthew Taft and Anne Quintain in a dual line as follows (Matthew, John, Ephraim, Fisher, Orlando, Elmer) and (Matthew, Robert, Solomon, Salley, Fisher, Orlando, Elmer).
