On the 1861 census the name is transcribed as Jait instead of Tait. Ralph and Elizabeth have a son William Lancelot aged 5 born Easington Grange - and two other children

On the BMD page:
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

I found a birth for William Lancelot Tait. Mar Q 1856 Belford 10b-280. Belford covers Easington Grange
You can send for his birth certificate on line from the General Register Office:
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

The birth certificate will give you Elizabeth's maiden name.

Ordering certs on line is very easy and safe. I do it all the time from the USA - takes about 3 weeks to get the cert.
Hope this helps
Pam B
