My great uncle Patrick McHugh b 1/8/1887 and died 7/18/1918 but wasn't buried until 1921 in St. John's Cemetery, Brooklyn. The cemetery has no record of his being re-interred. The family lore is that he was in the service and died in France. I can't seem to find him anywhere. I found one possiblity but that's the Royal Irish Regiment. If he died for Ireland and was brought home, wouldn't he have been brought back to Ireland? (his parents were still there), instead of to New York where his siblings were?
Any help is appreciated!
