What's your opinion? German Army

I found on ebay a German Passbook for Nikolaus Vogelei. He was born 1883 in Muhlhausen and died 2 Dec 1915 in Leipzig, Saxony. (age 32). Since 1915 was the 2nd year of the war, I suspect he died as a result of the war.
I checked the German Military Grave Registration Service and don't find a listing.
The 32 years of age makes me hesitate, what's your opinion, would a 32 year old man have been in action in 1915?
