Roger,
Thanks for the advice. I am awaiting records from St. Louis and was unaware of the fire in 1973. I have found a very detailed online book which includes my Great uncle's name on the Honor Roll. It can be found on Google books entitled "History of the First division during the world war, 1917-1919" I will also check out your other suggestions.
