HELP WITH A WWI VETERAN LOOK-UP - CHARLIE CANLER WHITMIRE

Looking for anyone who can help us verify that our grandfather was a WWI veteran. For many years my husband had heard that his grandfather was in the United States Army during WWI. He has never seen pictures of him in uniform or heard him talk of his service. I have the following information that I can share. His name was Charlie Canler Whitmire. He was born November 12, 1900 in Gainsville, Hall County, Georgia. He died July 3, 1965. His social security number was 411-01-3729. He probably went into the Army around 1917-1918 and probably got out a couple of years later. We don't have his service number. If you can forward any documents or information to colleeninringgold@yahoo.com that would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to give him the recognition he deserves in our family genealogy. Thanks!
