Louie, Fits info on my dad's discharge paper, all but - left Europe Oct. 6, 1945 and entered N.Y. Oct 13, 1945. This is were my dad and most his buddies left from to go home. He had told me a very moving story about all of them seeing the LADY in N.Y. harbor when they came in on the ship. My dad was discharged on Nov. 19, 1945. I also know the group was not training in Africa, Dad said they saw alot of action there. Was wondering what main group the company was with? I know it was not under Patton, who was the 3th, right???? Dad had told us kids many times but now I can't remember, think it may have been the 5th army. Was the Generals , Bradly (sp?) and Clark? Know dad was with some of the first troops into Silily and Rome. Dad received a medal from Eisenhower in France and a week later got called into his office in Paris and Eisenhower told him his little brother had been killed in a hunting accident in the states. My brother did have the letter Eisenhower sent to my dad with another medal a few months later and it had the info on it I want but my brother can't find the letter right now, stored it somewhere. Was hoping to find out where the history of dad's group may be located. I am putting together our family tree for my son and wanted to put the history down for him. He had been very close to his grandpa. Thanks for your help. Robin Notify Administrator about this message?
