Greetings, Fred Downs !

My reference sources have only a little information on his unit:

activated, Camp Blanding, FL, 20 Jul 42;

assigned to Airborne Command;

moved to Fort Benning, GA, for training, 5 Feb 43;

relocated to Camp Mackall, NC, 25 Mar 43;

staged at Camp Shanks, NJ, 20 Dec 43;

departed NYNY PE, 29 Dec 43;

(SPECIAL NOTE: The 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment sailed on the USAT JAMES PARKER, and landed at Belfast, Northern Ireland, 8 Jan 44);

attached to 82nd Airborne Division, 14Jan44 /20Jan45;

arrived England, 13 Mar 44;

assaulted Normandy, France, 6 Jun 44.

the regiment returned to England for re-grouping,
13 Jul 44.

Since your relative was KIA 17 Jun 44, the narrative ends here. OK ?

Like I indicated above, it isn't much. Sorry.

Louie F. Turner.
