Dearest Alma,
I am a descendant of Antonio Zapata. From the information I have received from my family, his only heirs were daughters. They of course, did not continue his family name. My great-grandmother (my mother's mother's mother) was his great-granddaughter. She did not bear his last name either. When the townsfolk decided to acknowledge Antonio Zapata's descendants, the uppity folk didn't realize that he had so many relatives. That surprised them because someone somewhere did their research correctly and found out that his relatives were high in number. Not a single one of them had the Zapata last name. I am still doing research. However, I have yet to find anyone who has his family tree. Once I got to my great-grandmother, I knew what her mother's and father's last names, but I couldn't tell you their first names. My grandmother is still alive, but I don't know that she knows because I think they had passed away (?) when she was a little girl. I can ask and if I get any valid information I will pass it on to you.
